Theobald Dillon AKA; 1st Viscount Dillon of Costello-Gallin Born;Unknown but he was knighted in 1559 so presumably 1530s Died; 15th March 1624 Wars; Tudor Conquest Famous For; He was Lord President of Connaught, Chief Serjeant and General Collector and Receiver of taxes for Connaught and Thomond and fought in the Nine Years War. His title was created in 1621 and his decendants still hold it today in the shape of Henry Dillon, 22nd Viscount Dillon. Over the centuries many of the male Dillons have been soldiers and the Dillon women have been the wives and mothers of soldiers. Costello and Gallin are Baronies in Mayo.

Gottfried Banfield AKA; Gottfried Freiherr von Banfield, The Eagle of Trieste Born; 6th February 1890, Castelnuovo, Austro-Hungarian Empire (modern-day Herceg Novi, Montenegro) Died; 23rd September 1986, Trieste, Italy Wars; WW1 Famous For; A grandson of Thomas Banfield, an Irish officer in the British Army killed during the Crimean War, Banfield’s father served in the Austrian Navy. Gottfried was also in the Austrian Navy and piloted flying boats during WW1. With 9 confirmed kills he was one of the most successful Austro-Hungarian flying aces.

Arthur Dillon
AKA; Comte Dillon Born; 1670, Roscommon Died; 7th February 1733, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France Wars; Williamite Wars Famous For; His father was Theobald Dillon, 7th Viscount Dillon and Colonel of the Regiment of Dillon, a Command which Arthur held in French service. The 7th Viscount was killed at Aughrim on 12 th July 1691. After the fall of Limerick, Arthur went to France and rose to the rank of Lt-General. Some of his descendants remained in French service and some returned to the UK. One son inherited the Viscountcy which still exists today

Theobald Dillon AKA; 7th Viscount Dillon of Costello-Gallin Born; Unknown, son of Robert Dillon of Loughglynn, Co. Roscommon Died; 12th July 1691, killed at the Battle of Aughrim Wars; Williamite Wars Famous For; He raised Dillon’s Regiment for James II, a regiment that became famous in the service of France. His title was attainted shortly before his death since he supported James II but his son, Henry succeeded as 8th Viscount and had the attainder reversed on 20th June 1694. Three of Theobald's grandsons became in turn the 9th, 10th and 11th Viscounts.

John Oughan AKA; John Oughagan possibly a Latin American version of O’Hagan Born; c. 1782 Died; after 1839 Wars; South American Wars of Independence Famous For; Arrived in Buenos Aires on 9th February 1817, he was a surgeon in campaigns in Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.
