Edmond Fennel AKA; Colonel Edmond Fennell Born; Unknown, Ballygriffin Co. Cork Died; Unknown Post 1652 Wars; Cromwellian Campaign Famous For; Appeared before the High Court Of Justice at Cork on 14th December 1652, charged with a series of murders and extra-judicial executions during the Cromwellian wars. Fennell had fought for the Confederates and was part of the Clonmel garrison during the siege. He was accused of treason in Clonmel but talked his way out of a date with a rope. It merged with Cumann na mBan in 1914. Her estranged husband John McBride was executed for his part in the 1916 Rising.

Galway Died; 23rd September 1867, Houston, Texas Wars; American Civil War Famous For; Commanded a small unit of artillery in Fort Griffin, Texas. On September 8th 1863 a Union navy flotilla of 5,000 men attempted an invasion of Texas and were driven off by Dowling and 47 men in what became known as the battle of Sabine Pass. A statue to this local hero stands in Houston where they also named Dowling Street in his honour.
